We decided to be nosey and take a motor down to the solent and have a look at the stricken car carrier this afternoon. The sight was immense like a beached whale at low tide. The salvage teams have an epic job on their hands.
On the way down we heard a notice to Mariners from VTS fireworks were due at 17.15 as Adonia (a cruise ship) was leaving port. As the tides restricted our arrival time at our berth until after 1800 we decided to take advantage.
After our rather off putting anchoring adventure in Newtown River both of us held our breath but decided to anchor off of Weston Shore. The rest was rather text book and light relief, which saw us regain back some confidence we had lost on our Christmas outing.
The fireworks were great, gingerbread Hello Kitty's were cooking and dinner was prepared. It was a good feeling to know we can just stop.
There is still some work to be done on the anchoring gear, chain, rope, bigger bow roller but all in all a successful afternoon.
Much love
