We have had a mixture of weather and for the first time in years Mike had a wet day for his birthday.
It has been a month of adventures and hardwork.
Mia has been enjoying cubs and even got to go on their summer camp. In the Camp meeting and list it appealed for homemade cake (lots of it) and welly sticks! Lol we believe they were sticks to put your wellys upside down. My only complaint is despite enjoying sewing the badges, they are not fun to sew on.
I have taken a leaf out of their book and made some cake for 14th Tonbridge's summer camp. We are en route to 14th's summer camp as I sit and write this, driving through the rain doesn't fill me with hope!
Sailing for Mia has been a bit hit and miss as the winds have been quite high or we have been galavanting, she loves it which is a bit of luck really. Very keen to get into the smaller dinghies :)
We have been involved in some Science lessons with a local home education group. Jacob especially has enjoyed all the mess they have created but equally loved the craft week, his Nanna would be proud. Our runner beans are growing well hopefully they will survive a week without us.
Jacob is showing us what a child led education really means and it is wonderful, rounded, all encompassing. He is developing emotionally, socially, practically and academically at the same rate rather than one being substituted for the other. We have met some lovely friends at the group and all three children have friends their own age all equally independent and passionate.
Our little hamster 'Henry the Hamster Boy' died towards the end of June after a short illness. Jacob will always make me giggle when we think of him. As we got ready to bury him he kept saying we are going to plant him! No hamster tree has sprouted yet.
Father’s day was actually a sunny day and we spent it on the beach body boarding a perfect day just being, finished off with toasted marshmallows at the caravan.
I sent Mike to a first aid course for his scouting permits which as it turned out came in useful for our own children. It sounds like it was a really engaging course and I have some hope he would be able to save me now. Thank you to Plymouth Power boat school.
He also went to see Green Day at BST Hyde Park the day after his birthday the weather couldn't have been more different if it tried. A wonderful day with some good friends was had.
We had attempted a picnic for Mike's birthday but it was spectacularly rained off and ended up at the National Maritime Museum with their Captain Blythe exhibition.
Boat work has been super busy and therefore when we get back from Scout camp we are ready to move back on.
We decluttered as much as the children would allow and I spent a wetish morning at a car boot in Plymouth but some more pennies in the pot can't be grumbled at.
At the beginning of July we had an impromptu trip to Southampton as I had a training course in London and my parents had returned early from their adventures due to a mishap with some trike brakes, a 15% hill and a bush. So we got to see them and my sister and our gorgeous cheeky nephew.
Mike wanted to use his first aid training so he took the children to a play park. He allowed them to play on a tyre swing and Imogen fell off. Just ridiculous parental behaviour I hear you cry! Cue the drama, trip to the Emergency Department to find she has broken her elbow. She ( and I as I had been sleeping ready for my night shift) spent the night in hospital having had her elbow wired back together and is healing well. One bonus of being so young is that it should be off on the 31st July (she broke it on the 4th).
We are all really looking forward to getting back home to the boat and all the slave labour that will ensue at the hands of Mike to get the outside and masts ready for our lift back in.
We hope life is treating you all well.
Much love the Pirates
