But fate had struck again, there was a watermaker (desalinator) half way round we had spied. It was all of our budget for the day, so we exchanged numbers and finished walking around. With only the varnish ticked off our list, a washing machine donated as a pay it forward and a flag we sat and counted our pennies. Asking price £500, we had £400 left, we were well aware it was worth the asking price and we did not hide that fact. But if you don't ask you will never know so we asked and walked away with a watermaker. Thank you Crispin.
On the whole it was a lovely rejuvinating day, having struck up a conversation regarding a wonder wash (hand operated washing machine) with the lovely John and Nicola Rodriguez. They were full of encouragement and enthusiasm and we are even more determined to be heading for sunnier climbs next year. I am looking forward to Nicola's book arriving, knowing their travels are fairly recent and with children. A lot of the books I have read are from the eighties!
Nowadays, alot of information is held on blogs but as with all non-fiction you want to be able to trust the writer. People are very good at writing the correct way of doing things but when you meet them they can seem a little disjointed. There is nothing wrong with being disjointed (as we are fairly wonky as a family), the thing to avoid is becoming obsessed with keeping up with the Jones' it is after all why Mike and I are so fond of this lifestyle.
In other news, Imogen broke her arm on the 1st April and she is well on the mend Jacob has named it her April Fall!
We have therefore engrossed ourselves in the boat, and organising life.
While Mike has been busy making wind turbine mast brackets, radar relector mounts, mounting plates for the ladders, deck filler, forward hatch bolted down, dinghy oars varnished, wheelhouse navigation area lined, there are probably things I have missed but ssshhh please don't tell him.
I have been setting up our new company Janna Services Limited in a bid for Mikes hard work to pay off (pensionable years) and for us to save money (I should have looked harder at my pay slip before!).
Anyway enough of me nattering on, I should blog more often then you wouldn't need to read an essay ;-)
Much love to you all, may this year be one to remember catching up with as many of you as possible before we sail off into the sunset next year!
