H anchoring for a change!
Our aim initially was to just cut the lines and anchor around the Plymouth sound, Cawsand and Tamar area, leaving the Marina at the beginning of May.
However, Mike did some digging and found who owned the buoys north of the Tamar bridge and they were affordable with the yearly mooring term commencing at the beginning of April.
So off we went, everything aligned, tides, good weather to tempt us out, work schedule. We got to anchor in Kingsand, one of our favourite places, for a few days but we wanted to figure out the mooring at Saltash so with bad weather expected Sunday we left our beautiful anchorage to the more functional mooring. All tied up safely this has given us somewhere to leave our home safely while we make our land visits as well as somewhere secure when high winds are expected (with an added bonus of a far shorter commute for me!)
It also gives us the time to set our boat back up to being self-sufficient. So far the list is growing of things that have deteriorated since not being used.
The last week we have focussed on figuring out what still works of our charging systems for our batteries. Well, not the generator that set on fire and the solar panels are a bit dodgy! But the wind turbine the oldest of them all a Rutland 913 at 10 years old is still doing us proud.
We shall keep working through our long list and hopefully come May we shall be ready to anchor more. But this move has refocused our efforts to get organised.
The downside (the one we always find hardest) we had to leave the comfort of yet another amazing boatyard family, the love, the care and companionship they have shared with us will carry us through those wet dinghy rides, the rough nights at anchor. Knowing there is always a 'family' who are there for support and understand our challenges.
To those at Kemp's Quay we deserted and our latest family at Southdown, we love you and we will still come to find you!
Much love to you all
