Well we did it, we spent our first Christmas away on our boat leaving at 4am (tide and time wait for no man) Christmas Eve, we ventured down to Newton River for the second time. After force 7 winds we arrived at 9.30am. The first time we have sailed her in an considerable wind and she was strong and stable ⛵️ Jacob enjoyed running up the floor and sliding back down 😊 We tried a couple of anchors and then resorted to the NT visitor moorings, we needed brunch! We all enjoyed the beautiful views and glorious sunshine we were supplied with. We waited until high tide but unfortunately there was not enough depth with barometric pressure and spring tides to stay overnight. Up the sails went and we trounced along in two tacks to Yarmouth.
What amazing people, we went to St James church and the welcome was fab, Mia got a part in the crib service and we walked away with a Victoria sponge as we were volunteered to have the youngest child there.
Nigel, Sally and there boys joined us for coffee and cake on the boat. Christmas afternoon we were joined by a South African family who popped by the boat (I won't insult them but attempting to spell their names).
The children were very happy and lucky.
Thank you to Yarmouth and St James for the warmth, kindness and love you showed our little family and to our friends and family at home.
It was everything we had hoped cruising might be (maybe a little warmer in time😉)
Merry Christmas
