Imogen came out of her cast on the 31st July, it was looking pretty filthy from a week in a field with the 14th! Even more disappointing, there was a lady with a glittery cast in the waiting room, #Daddyfail! The Doctor showed me the X-ray, before and after shots and how they had relocated it. He then warned me that there was going to be a lot of tears as they just pull the wires (think double the thickness of a paper clip) out! Now Imogen is well practiced at the tantrums and strops but remarkably there was just a few upset, worried tears. Her treat for being so brave was a trip to the pet shop and Imogen got to choose our latest recruit to the crew Snowy the hamster.
He is a lovely little edition, and despite being a bit bitier than Henry, is really friendly.
Shortly afterwards, we got to enjoy the family wedding of the year and we were privileged to share in my cousins wedding at the Eden project. It was held in the Mediterranean biome, being in Italy without having to fly. Gorgeous food. And the flowers, THE FLOWERS were beautiful paper yes you heard correctly they were paper. You would not have known it they were perfect replicas and clearly took alot of time and effort. It was AMAZING, thank you for sharing your day and allowing us the opportunity to get together with the family.
Since our return from scout camp, Mike had made us all start working: sanding and varnishing the masts x 3; oiling the rigging; sanding the boat x2; paint the boat x2; antifouling the boat and clearing the mess. He deserves a trophy for putting up with an exhausted, anxious, stroppy wife. I absolutely hate the dreckly attitude down here and much rather plan, although the weather also tried to foil all our plans for painting with the rain.
However, we did it and we were lifted back in on the 22nd August just in time for the glorious bank holiday which I worked all of to make up for lost days, how typical that it should be the hottest bank holiday since Mike was born.
We have been visited by some lovely friends this month and had some fabulous land adventures with them. We were also blessed to see lots of family due to my cousins wedding and another cousin visiting from Australia with his wonderful wife and gorgeous girl.
We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and hoping to get sailing this September.
Stay tuned to find out whether the weather plays ball!
All our love
